Swimmable Waters Volunteer Training
April 22 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

We’re looking for volunteers to help us with water sampling from May – September. This volunteer training day will help you learn the ropes, or refresh your memory!
We will go over why the program exists, how to take a water sample, sterile technique, the sampling routes, and more!
What is the Swimmable Waters program?
We sample popular swimming holes weekly for bacteria from May through September. Volunteers are a key part of this program!
Volunteers sign up for sampling routes each Wednesday. They drive to pre-assigned swimming holes around the watershed, take water samples at each one, and drop them off at our office by 3:00 pm. For each sampling run, volunteers are entered into a drawing to win outdoor gear from Patagonia!
You volunteer hours can count as service hours needed for other programs, such as the Penn State Master Watershed Steward program.
