Watershed Research Assistant
Mountain Watershed Association is hiring a part-time (up to 20 hours per week), temporary employee to assist with the development of the Youghiogheny River Conservation Plan. This will be a remote position from February to May 2023. Selected candidate will be compensated $15/hour.
Responsibilities:
- Research and review previous studies within the project area
- Develop tables and charts to include in the report using GIS attribute data.
- Help draft sections in the report including Land, Water, Biological, Recreation, History and Socioeconomic data
- Work with Director of Conservation and Youghiogheny Riverkeeper to conduct municipal and key individual interviews via phone or zoom.
- Participate in bi-weekly progress check meetings via telephone or zoom
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or working towards a degree in environmental science, biology, or related field. Course work in fields of ecology, biology, environmental disturbances, or related topics
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and independent worker
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and a willingness to develop additional skills as needed.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Provide their own office space, computer, with internet
