No Man’s Land Film Festival

March 14, 2025 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

$15 per ticket

Join Mountain Watershed Association and Patagonia Pittsburgh for an inspired evening with the No Man’s Land Film Festival.

As the premier all-women + genderqueer adventure film festival, No Man’s Land Film Festival (NMLFF) has celebrated the full scope of athletes and adventurers by un-defining femininity in adventure, sport, conservation, and film since 2015. Its mission transcends the films presented; this festival acts as a platform for progressive thought and movement in the outdoor industry.

Hosted at the Patagonia Pittsburgh store, this 90-minute program will show how women, although underrepresented in the conservation field, are making change for the good of the environment. Afterwards, enjoy a Q&A session with a selection of MWA’s conservation and advocacy staff, who are actively working to safeguard clean water in the Laurel Highlands.

Film lineup:

  • “Dolly’s Song,” a 13-minute documentary following retired trailbuilder Dolly Chapman as she passes on the art of the crosscut saw.
  • “Journey Back to Alcedo,” which tells the story of two friends bonded by their work in the Galapagos Islands.
  • “ᏗᏂᏠᎯ ᎤᏪᏯ (Meet Me at the Creek)”, a story of interconnectedness through the lifelong fight of a Cherokee Nation citizen and Waterkeeper Warrior as she leads the effort to restore Tar Creek.
  • “Thrawn – A Stubbornly Scottish Snow Film,” the story of professional snowboarder Lesley McKenna, who has spent her life pushing the boundaries of her sport and advocating for the people and place that shaped her.
  • “Usugilix Awakun,” which follows a native Alaskan biologist researching the connection between climate change and algal blooms, which have made blue mussels, a staple cultural food, toxic to her community.
  • “ABOUT DAMN TIME: The Dory Women of Grand Canyon,” a boatman’s tale about the women who the iconic row dories in the Grand Canyon, their struggles to break into the current, and the passing of the oars to the next generation.

Before the program begins, there will be an opportunity to buy snacks and drinks, learn a bit about Mountain Watershed Association, and enter a raffle to win some outdoor gear. The films will start at 6:30 and run for about an hour and a half.

Afterwards, there will be a Q&A panel with staff from Mountain Watershed Association, which is unique for its high proportion of women working in the outdoor conservation field. Folks can learn about some of their current campaigns and how to get involved.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit MWA’s Legal Defense Fund, which supports our work to halt the expansion of a deep coal mine already operating in the Donegal, PA area.
