Community Prep Meeting: Rustic Ridge II Public Comment

On August 20, PA DEP is holding a public hearing regarding the permit review for the Rustic Ridge 2 Deep Mine, a new 2,300 acre development proposed in Donegal and Mount Pleasant Townships. DEP wants to know your thoughts and concerns!
This meeting is an opportunity to better understand this proposed mine and gather with your neighbors. It’s VERY important to join together as a community and get your questions and concerns on record with the agency.

Background: Rustic Ridge 2 is a new underground coal mine proposed by LCT Energy. A portal and surface operation off of Claypike Road would be developed as part of this mine. This is in addition to LCT’s existing Rustic Ridge 1 coal mine and adjoining expansion.
This mine is proposed near the headwaters of Jacobs Creek. Some members of our community have reported property damage and water loss from the current operations at Rustic Ridge 1, which has been active since 2018.
We urge area residents to help protect our water, property value, and quality of life in the Laurel Highlands. Please attend both meetings to be informed and take action!
