Elle Paul

Hello everyone! My name is Elle Paul and I am the Conservation and Outreach AmeriCorps member serving at Mountain Watershed Association.

I am originally from Ohio, where I earned my degree in Environmental Science and Sustainability from Ohio University. Going to school and frequently visiting family in Southeast Ohio has greatly contributed to my passion for restoring water resources, protecting the environment, and giving back to local communities. I always enjoyed playing outside in the woods and catching all kinds of critters in the creeks as a kid, but I didn’t truly understand the issues our environment faces until college, when I saw pollution, land-use change, and underserved communities firsthand. 

During my service at Mountain Watershed Association, I will assist staff with water quality sampling and monitoring, maintaining mine drainage treatment systems, education and outreach events, and trail maintenance. I am thrilled to be part of this amazing organization that is dedicated to protecting our watersheds and communities. Throughout my term of service, I’m eager to develop field skills and gain a deeper understanding of the environmental challenges we face. 

Although I just started my service, I am extremely excited to explore and give back to the Indian Creek and Youghiogheny River Watersheds and the communities that reside in them. Working with like-minded individuals on crucial issues is always something I have wanted to do. I look forward to working with all the staff and adventuring around the Laurel Highlands!

During my days off, you can find me doing a variety of things. I enjoy doing anything outside, whether that is hiking, slacklining, kayaking, birding, etc. I also dabble in arts & crafts, with watercolor painting and making jewelry being a few examples. I’m excited to explore the area’s natural beauty and would love to hear any suggestions if you see me in the field or at an event!
