Public Participation Vital for the Indian Creek River Conservation Plan Update

We are updating the Indian Creek River Conservation Plan and could use your help! Do you enjoy fishing, kayaking, bird watching, maybe ATV riding, or site seeing? How about camping, biking, or hiking? Are you in the Indian Creek Watershed or have you visited?

Mountain Watershed Association, under the guidance of a Project Steering Committee, is currently working to update the existing Indian Creek River Conservation Plan. A River Conservation Plan is a comprehensive document detailing all the characteristics of a watershed, providing a holistic approach to preservation and protection. The document overviews all the existing studies for the region and will include a list of recommendations, that when implemented, will improve conditions within the watershed. You can visit our Indian Creek River Conservation Plan Page to read more about what is encompassed in the plan.

The Indian Creek River Conservation Plan Update is in its infancy as public outreach and data collection have just begun. Community participation is an integral part of the River Conservation Planning Process. Community members are encouraged to participate through public meetings, public surveys, advisory committee roles, key individual interviews, and social media polls and questions.

Currently, there are two ways that the public can offer input. The first way is to take the Public Survey online or download a hard copy to send in. Secondly, you can attend the Public Information Gathering Session on Thursday, March 28 at St. Raymond Parish in Donegal, PA 15628. Refreshments begin at 6:30pm and meeting will start at 7pm.
