EcoSaurus Coloring Contest

UPDATE:

Thank you to everyone who participated in our EcoSaurus Coloring Contest. We were impressed by the creativity and originality of each entry we received! We are excited to announce the winner of the contest – Ella Horst, age 9, and her EcoSaurus “Stephanie”. The volunteer committee who chose the winning entry noted that the blue, distinctive linework on the dinosaur reminded them of the waterways that we all work to protect on a daily basis.

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History has kindly donated four day-passes for the winner of the coloring contest. We have also recreated Stephanie, pictured below, and will be installing the dinosaur beside the existing EcoSaurus found near 896 County Line Road, Acme PA. We have also received donations of dinosaur-themed prizes for all who participated.

Thank you again to everyone who made the coloring contest a success! We will be in touch with the winner and participants over the next week to coordinate distribution of prizes.

The County Line Road EcoSaurus near the entrance of the proposed Rustic Ridge deep coal mine has been stirring up a lot of conversation in our community. Many people have asked to keep the discussion going by building additional dinosaurs nearby the original installation. Before we do that, we’d like your input on what these new dinosaurs should look like! So, Mountain Watershed Association will be hosting an EcoSaur coloring contest for ages 12 and under. We are asking all participants to color their own EcoSaurus and give it a creative name. The winning entries will receive a dinosaur-themed prize and have their design painted onto a new, smaller dinosaur that will be on display beside the original found near 896 County Line Road, Acme, PA.

The stegosaurus coloring sheets can be downloaded here from our website or picked up at the Mountain Watershed Association office at 1414 Indian Creek Valley Road, Melcroft, PA 15642.

Your entries can be submitted by dropping them off at our office, e-mailing a scan or photo to ashley@mtwatershed.com, or by mailing it to PO Box 408, Melcroft PA 15642. All entries must be received by December 31st, 2017. Volunteer judges from the community will choose the winning entries in the beginning of January 2018.

You can read more about why local community members decided to build the dinosaur installation in our previous blog post. For more information, please e-mail ashley@mtwatershed.com, call 724-455-4200 ext 6#, or visit mtwatershed.com.

Thanks, and happy coloring!
