Mariner East Landowners Summit

On Saturday, April 2nd, the Mountain Watershed Association along with the Sierra Club will be hosting the Mariner East Landowners Summit from 11-3 in Export, PA.

The Mariner East pipeline project will likely increase drilling in our region, since the majority of the natural gas liquids will be shipped overseas for private profits while domestic prices fall to all-time lows. Sunoco Logistics, L.P. has been using eminent domain to secure right-of-ways (ROW) when landowners refuse to sign easements by claiming the project has a public benefit, which is currently being challenged in court.

The project will include pipelines up to 20 inches in diameter and will cross 95 streams and 32 wetlands through Rostraver, South Huntingdon, Sewickley, Hempfield, Jeannette, Penn, Salem, Loyalhanna, Murrysville and Derry Townships.

Mountain Watershed and Sierra Club have been working with landowners and organizers across the state to raise awareness about the project’s potential impact as well as Sunoco’s use of eminent domain. If you live on or near the proposed route of the Mariner East, please consider attending this important networking and strategizing event. Clean Air Council will have GIS maps available at the Summit to see how close the pipeline is to you.

The event is free and lunch will be provided.
