Summer 2016 Internship Available

Do you want to spend your summer in Pennsylvania’s incredible Laurel Highlands? We are currently accepting resumes for a summer intern to work alongside our Youghiogheny Riverkeeper on projects in the Yough watershed!

Responsibilities

  • Sample for our 2016 Swimmable Waters program by taking weekly E. coli samples around the watershed
  • In our in-house lab, provide analysis of these E. coli samples
  • Post sample results on theswimguide.org; publicize sample results through our blog, social media channels, and other outlets
  • Provide community outreach at venues throughout the watershed to raise awareness
  • Organize and facilitate events encouraging people to recreate outdoors in the watershed
  • Assist in building visibility for our new “Water Reporter” app that allows the public to report pollution with via smartphone
  • Document the current condition of access points and amenities along the Yough River Water Trail as we prepare to updated maps
  • Other duties as necessary

Requirements

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or over
  • Ability to work daily from our Melcroft, PA office.
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and independent worker
  • Work well under pressure and take deadlines seriously
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively and creatively with diverse people and groups
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including frequent evenings and weekends
  • Reliable transportation and ability and willingness to travel when required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Compensation is available.

Position available May 2016.
