Community Advocate

Hi! I’m Sarah. I am the Community Advocate for the Mountain Watershed Association.

I grew up in the south hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Like many, I developed a love for nature, and relished any opportunity to spend time outdoors. Deciding to stay in the region, I pursued a law degree from Duquesne University School of Law in 2022. I had the explicit intention to use my law degree to make a positive impact on our communities. During law school, I served as the Executive Editor of Joule, an energy and environmental legal journal. Through this experience, I gained exposure to pressing, timely environmental issues in Pennsylvania. After law school, I gained valuable litigation experience in private practice and the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office. In each of these roles, I learned the importance of truly listening to community members.

I’m proud to be from western Pennsylvania – our region boasts beautiful mountains, forests, and rivers. However, it is impossible to tell the story of this region without noting the impact of industry and development on our communities. Industrial development has tangible consequences – people’s homes, health, and safety are at stake. Mountain Watershed Association actively seeks to serve and protect those communities affected by industrial development in the Youghiogheny River Watershed. I’m proud to serve this mission. I’m here to listen, to help, and to advocate for MWA!
