Aidan Kane

Summer AmeriCorps Member: Conservation & Field Assistant

Hey everybody! My name is Aidan, and I am serving at Mountain Watershed this summer through Americorps as the Conservation Field Assistant.

I am from Virginia, but have known western Pennsylvania well since I was young due to family roots in the area. Growing up I was often outside, and despite sleeping through a family canoe trip or two as a kid, I believe I have always had a strong connection to the outdoors.

I attended West Virginia University and graduated with a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Management in 2022, and I am excited to put my field experience to work! During my time outside the classroom in college, I became a river guide. I knew I had a passion for the outdoors, and becoming a river guide only further solidified my belief of this. I believe that becoming a guide only motivated me further to pursue a career in environmental stewardship.

After earning my degree In Morgantown, I relocated to Ohiopyle to guide full time. Kayaking, fly fishing, rafting, hiking, and climbing are just a few of the ways I enjoy spending my time when I am not out in the field or on the water.

As the Conservation Field Assistant this summer, I am excited for the opportunity to serve the community and help protect the places that have become so important to me over the years, while working with a like minded group of skilled and motivated individuals!
