Welcome to our new team members!

We’ve gained two more terrific staff members at MWA, and a few positions have shifted around in the early weeks of 2025!

Chantelle Hutchens has stepped into the position of “Watershed Specialist,” a position that bridges the gap between outreach and conservation. Chantelle will be out and about in the watershed, monitoring MWA’s treatment systems, taking water samples, and helping out at education events.

Nate Ricketts has joined the advocacy team as a Community Organizer. A local from Pittsburgh’s East End, Nate grew up between the city’s three rivers. A writer with a strong interest in social justice, Nate likes spending his time outdoors, exploring far and wide on his bike.

Another new addition to our advocacy team is Sarah Thomas. Sarah grew up in the south hills of Pittsburgh, where she developed a love for nature, and relished any opportunity to spend time outdoors. Deciding to stay in the region, she pursued a law degree from Duquesne University School of Law in 2022, with the explicit goal of using her degree to mitigate environmental impacts.

As our organization grows and changes, we gain more energy and momentum across all of our teams. If you want to get involved, there are lots of ways you can help! New AmeriCorps positions and volunteer needs will be posted in the following weeks.
