Four years ago, our Indian Creek Valley Trail committee suggested holding a golf scramble to raise money for the trail. Our organization does lots of outdoor activities, but very few of us golf! Still, we decided to give it a try.
Four years later, we’ve learned a lot! We moved from a 9-hole golf course to a the 18-hole golf course at Donegal Highlands, and the golf committee is pleased to announce that 2024 has been our most successful year to date with more golfers (81) and more sponsors (48), ranging from $100.00 to $1000.00! Once again, we also had a plentiful amount of quality items for the raffle prizes.
MWA’s Board of Directors and Trail Committee played a huge role in sponsoring, organizing, staffing, and even golfing at the event! We’re extremely grateful for their help – we couldn’t have pulled this off without their dedication and support!
Golfers reported that they enjoyed the day, liked supporting MWA, and also experienced some of the beauty of the Laurel Highlands and its recreational opportunities. We hope to see all of these teams and more next year!
Congratulations to our winners!

The Indian Creek Valley Trail Golf Scramble benefits Mountain Watershed Association, which manages the Indian Creek Valley Trail, a 19-mile hiking and biking trail that runs from Jones Mills to the confluence of Indian Creek and the Youghiogheny River in Mill Run. Proceeds from this year’s event will be put toward fixing a large trail washout in the Indian Creek Gorge.
