Mountain Watershed Association held the 15th annual Indian Creek Watershed Festival over the weekend at CW Resh Park in Indian Head. Even in chilly fall weather, families came from near and far to enjoy a day of free activities along Indian Creek!
The event featured free fishing and lunch for kids 12 and under, hands-on environmental education activities, door prizes, a fly casting clinic with PA Fly Co, and goods from local vendors.
On the morning of the event, Indian Creek was stocked with 160 trout from Laurel Hill Trout Farm. The 55 kids who braved the drizzly weather had tons of fun fishing and catching trout!
Each child who registered was also entered into a drawing to win one of four bikes donated by the Kona Bicycle Company and Wilderness Voyageurs bike shop. The winners loved their new rides!
The event wrapped up with the highly-anticipated Indian Creek Duck Race, in which the MWA team released 1000 rubber ducks into the creek. These lucky ducks won up to $500 in prizes:
First placeChristel Pierce
Third place Bill Brisbane
Fourth place G. Meyers
Last duck Karen Croft
The winners have all been called, and they should receive their winnings in the form of a check in the next three weeks!
