MWA’s Outdoor Resource Library

The last time I was in a creek, I was playing with some kids during an environmental education program. (A macroinvertebrate collection program, to be more precise.) We were knee-deep in the creek, reaching into the water to find stones and rocks to turn over. The kids were hoping to find salamanders and crayfish, and we found so much more. We found a dragonfly nymph big enough to eat a fish and the wild cocoons of caddisfly larvae! We saw tiny raccoon handprints down in the mud next to the river’s edge.

I’m Lindsey, the Education and Outreach Coordinator for Mountain Watershed Association. Teaching experiential learning programs is my absolute favorite thing to do. I adore watching the kids delight in nature, and I love helping them learn to cherish and respect the natural world.

All of us at MWA want to help people experience the natural world! We want your kids to get outside and explore. And we can help!

MWA has a new program that I am SO EXCITED about! We call it our Outdoor Resource Library, and it’s an opportunity to borrow FREE outdoor gear and educational materials. This library is designed for educators, parents, grandparents, and guardians to help get the young people in your life to have fun outdoors.

Being outside doesn’t have to break the bank, and we’re here to help out! Come play with us and have just as much fun as young Piper! Look at her smile!

Take a peek at the awesome gear and resources we have for you to borrow! Items can be borrowed for multiple days. Contact Lindsey with any questions about the resource library. Call 724-455-4200 ext #4 or email Lindsey@mtwatershed.com
