Nearly $2,380 was raised at The Art of Completing the GORGEous Trail fundraiser held on October 20, graciously hosted by Vin De Matrix Winery at King’s Mountain Resort in Rockwood, PA. Winery owners Lee and Josh, along with the help of a group of fellow trail users, organized this fundraiser to contribute to the completion of the Indian Creek Valley Trail Gorge section. The Gorge- as you’ve probably read here before– is a hidden gem, an area of great natural diversity, and an all-around GORGEous place. These trail lovers recognized the need to not only raise awareness for this section of trail but to complete it so that it can be shared with others.
The event featured wine tasting, an artisan fair, a basket raffle, a silent auction, music by James Wolff, Dos Amigos Food, Monroe’s Coffee truck, and much more. A myriad of artisans were present, showing off their many talents. Artisans included Chris Peck with an array of stained glass pieces, Jason Bloom showcasing his beautiful pottery, Joy Knepp and her colorful handmade glass bead jewelry, Jane the Pane with unique window creations, Planter’s Farmhouse and their cute potted succulents and terrariums, Bill Snyder with his astrologically themed photographs, Moon Child Products and their fragrant bath bombs and soaps, Pause for Paws and their handmade dog treats, Bridget Mayak and her beautiful woolen mittens, Lisa Cusic with her handmade copper jewelry, and so much more. There was truly something for everyone!
Over the past 5 months, MWA has raised over $28,000 of the $100,000 still needed to complete this section. The proceeds from this fundraiser are allowing us to soar closer to that goal.
Mountain Watershed Association and the Indian Creek Valley Trail Committee would like to extend a huge thank you to Vin De Matrix Winery, their staff and volunteers, and the active trail users who all had a hand in planning this amazing event.
