Rally to Protect Laurel Highlands Water & Communities

On December 23, 2016, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) issued a permit to LCT Energy, LP for the proposed Rustic Ridge #1 deep mine in the Indian Creek watershed. The mine’s planned footprint stretches through both Donegal and Saltlick Townships, spanning nearly 3,000 underground acres with a 67-acre surface facility located off County Line Road in Donegal. If built, the mine could lead to additional mine drainage discharges and water pollution and will harm community quality of life and public health throughout our region.

Join the effort to stop this dangerous industrial activity from occurring in your community by attending a rally at the Chestnut Ridge Community Center (113 Community Center Lane, Jones Mills) on January 12, 2016, at 5:30 pm, as a show of community opposition and solidarity against Rustic Ridge.

Dress warmly in blaze orange clothing to emphasize our presence. We also encourage you to bring signs to show your opposition using slogans such as “Protect Our Water,” “Stop The Deep Mine,” or “Save Our Mountains.”

We look forward to seeing you all there on Thursday!
