Do you want to spend your summer in Pennsylvania’s incredible Laurel Highlands? We are currently accepting resumes for a summer intern to work alongside our Youghiogheny Riverkeeper on projects in the Yough watershed!
Responsibilities
- Sample for our 2016 Swimmable Waters program by taking weekly E. coli samples around the watershed
- In our in-house lab, provide analysis of these E. coli samples
- Post sample results on theswimguide.org; publicize sample results through our blog, social media channels, and other outlets
- Provide community outreach at venues throughout the watershed to raise awareness
- Organize and facilitate events encouraging people to recreate outdoors in the watershed
- Assist in building visibility for our new “Water Reporter” app that allows the public to report pollution with via smartphone
- Document the current condition of access points and amenities along the Yough River Water Trail as we prepare to updated maps
- Other duties as necessary
Requirements
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or over
- Ability to work daily from our Melcroft, PA office.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and independent worker
- Work well under pressure and take deadlines seriously
- Strong communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively and creatively with diverse people and groups
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including frequent evenings and weekends
- Reliable transportation and ability and willingness to travel when required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Compensation is available.
