Last night’s Stream Protection Rule hearing in Pittsburgh was a big organizing success for us and partners at Center for Coalfield Justice and Sierra Club (and check out our awesome “our water, our future” t-shirts!). The hearing, held by OSM to accept public comment on the first meaningful revisions to federal mining regulations in decades, was attended by over 200 people with over 60 offering comment. While the coal industry bused in over 100 miners to comment or simply fill seats in the hearing room, over 25 of those commenting were in favor of the proposed rule and the protections it would provide.
