Plans are underway for this year’s Spring Grassroots Summit which will be held June 12-14th, 2015 at the Laurelville Mennonite Center near Mount Pleasant, PA, for grassroots organizations and individuals advocating for change on shale gas issues. This year’s summit will offer trainings for organizers that focus on self-care, power mapping, direct action and more. This weekend is meant for having fun while strengthening our network of grassroots groups, organizers, and advocates. Attendees will have the choice to participate in a variety of different workshops and hear from a number of keynote speakers.
Camp style lodging with bunk beds will be available Friday and Saturday night so please bring twin-size linens or a sleeping bag. For those who arrive on Friday, we will have snacks available. All meals will be provided for Saturday as well as breakfast on Sunday. Access to kitchen facilities will be available if you wish to bring additional food. We will also have access to all of the amenities at Laurelville.
Registration is $35/person but no one will be turned away for lack of payment. Laurelville has cabins available for those seeking more private accommodations, but these accommodations must be pre-arranged and paid for by the individual. For any questions regarding the summit, please contact Stephanie at (724)455-4200 ext.5# or stephanie@mtwatershed.com. Stay tuned for registration to open as space is limited and we expect the summit to fill quickly. Additional details about the Spring Summit will be coming soon.
