Have you noticed Indian Creek appears to be running red downstream of our Kalp mine drainage treatment system near Melcroft? MWA is presently working to rehabilitate this system. During this work Indian Creek will have more red water in it than it has for the last 9 years, but nowhere near the iron it had before the treatment system was put in place in 2005. We anticipate little damage to the ecosystem although some iron staining may remain for a while. We are monitoring the pH and iron levels in the stream.
