Family Field Day at Laurel Hill State Park

Mountain Watershed Association and Laurel Hill State Park Rangers are offering a FREE Family Field Day for area families to enjoy a day together outside! Funding provided by PA Dept. of Environmental Protection’s Environmental Education Grant.  

ACTIVITIES:

Snorkeling: Sneak a peek at what’s lurking under the water! This activity is limited to 15 participants per session, so sign up below!

  • Snorkeling times: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm & 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Boating: Paddle around Laurel Hill Lake in a canoe, kayak, or double kayak! This activity is also limited to 50 participants per session, so sign up below!

  • Boating times: 10:15 am – 11:15 am, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm & 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Fishing: Join the PA Fish and Boat Commission to practice casting, baiting a hook, and reeling in a fish! No fishing license required

  • Fishing is available all day!

Exploration Hikes: Take a guided, family-friendly hike to explore the woods and learn about plants, trees, birds, and animals that live there!

  • Hiking times: 10:15 am – 11:15 am & 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Arts and Crafts: We have a few arts and crafts activities available for our artists! (If you plan to tie dye, bring your own white shirt or bandana)

  • Tie Dye: 10:15 am – 11:15 am
  • Fashion a Fish: 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Education Programs: MWA’s Education Coordinator will lead two programs in the afternoon – Birds & Beaks and Aquatic Mammals!

  • Birds & Beaks: 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm
  • Aquatic Mammals: 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm

 

TRANSPORTATION:

Bus transportation is free! We can only take 40 passengers at each location, so register here in advance! Buses leave Laurel Hill State Park at 3:00 p.m. and return to their respective pickup areas at 4:00 p.m. (Families with children in car seats may drive personal vehicles and meet us at Laurel Hill State Park at the Beach parking area at 10:00 a.m.) Bus pickup locations:

 

COME PREPARED!

Equipment and supplies are provided. Lunch is not provided, so please bring a bagged lunch or visit the Laurel Hill Concession Stand.* Dress for the weather and the water. Bring sunscreen and a reusable water bottle. *If you need help with lunch, MWA will provide a limited number of free lunches to families in need!    Sign up for transportation and limited-availability activities using the RSVP forms below. You can sign up for all other activities upon arrival to the park!
